Two tidbits about cats

Here are some random occurances from this past week that I both find funny and sad (respectively):

1.  The other night Tiki (Nick and Amy’s cat that keeps me company until she moves to their apartment) brought in a duster (one of those things that looks like a big feather on a stick– not state fair food) in my bedroom.  Tiki has a lot of random toys that end up by my bed.  Anyway, I stared at it for a few seconds trying to figure out how this thing got in my bedroom (it’s rather large for a cat).  When I figured out it was Tiki, I was wondering if she was giving me a hint– “you’re room is too dusty, Anna– you must use this contraption!”  When I saw her playing with it later, I figured she was just using it as a toy.

2.  I spoke with my mom the other day, who said that my old cat Tito (who still lives with my parents) is very sick and might not make it too much longer.  She said if Tito does have to be put to sleep, they are not going to take him home and bury him in the back yard.  She said the dog might dig him up and fling the bag (with dead cat inside).  She said this very casually, like there was nothing unsympathetic with the statement she just made.  I said “thanks for the visual, Mom.  That’s pleasant.”  I know that people who don’t like cats might find the above story amusing.  I’m actually pretty sad, though.  Especially after the visual of the dog flinging around the bag with dead cat inside.
